The doors have officially opened to the new Evolution Hair Beauty Massage training salon at Durack's Geraldton campus, as part of the State Government’s commitment to training in regional Western Australia.
Durack Institute of Technology’s Managing Director, Mr Bill Swetman, said it was important for the lecturers and students to engage and learn in an industry relevant environment.
“The Evolution Hair Beauty Massage training salon has been designed to deliver quality training in a real world environment, therefore maximising student and industry engagement”.
Evolution will be open to the broader community to visit and enjoy treatments by students, under the supervision and guidance of experienced lecturers.
The Salon will provide training to over 300 students every year, from Certificate I level up to Diploma level and including apprenticeships. Partaking in studies in the new learning environment will equip students with the skills needed to succeed in industry.
Valued at $2.74 million, the development includes two new hairdressing salons, a beauty therapy room, a nail room (including a Vichy Shower), a massage and make-up room, and a state-of-the-art retail reception and welcome area.
