Durack Institute of Technology has been recognised once again as a vocational education and training leader in the country after being announced as a finalist in the Large Training Provider of the Year category of the 2010 Australian Training Awards.
The Institute has been selected in the top three in the Nation based on criteria including; demonstrated best practice in vocational education and training, building human resource capabilities, strategic planning and management, client focus and establishing partnerships and links.
Mr Bert Beevers, Managing Director of Durack Institute of Technology said, “This is an outstanding achievement for Durack and an honour to be recognised for delivering some of the highest quality vocational education and training in Australia to the Midwest and Gascoyne regions of WA”. Mr Beevers continued, “Our success is a credit to the professionalism and dedication of all staff and the strong support of local enterprises, communities and Governing Council”.
Durack strives to develop the regions workforce through the provision of training for Apprentices and Trainees, Aboriginal people and the delivery of higher level qualifications via innovative delivery strategies such as e learning, delivery in workplaces and recognition of prior learning. The institute is a state leader in all of these areas.
Durack has had a very successful 2010, also being named a finalist in the WA Environmental Awards being presented this Saturday 6th November in Perth and is also a finalist in the categories of Sustainability, Water Conservation and Teaching Excellence in the WA Regional Achievement and Community Awards to be presented in Perth on Friday 12th November. To date the Institute has won the WA Large Training Provider of the Year Award at the WA Training Awards and also the WA Water Resource Management Award at the 2010 Water Awards.
The Australian Training Awards are the nation’s most prestigious awards for vocational education and training and the finalists are selected through a rigorous selection process including a site visit and presentation in Canberra. The winner will be announced at a Gala Dinner in Sydney on November 19th.
