Congratulations to recent Durack Institute of Technology graduates, Stacey Bonney and Bevan Corbett who have taken out awards at the 2011 Mid West NAIDOC awards.
Both students were also recipients of Rio Tinto Aboriginal Scholarships valued at $500. Scholarships are awarded each semester to students of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent enrolled in full-time study at Durack.
Congratulations also to Durack's Indigenous Development Officer, Dale Forsyth who won the 'Community Service' award and was also nominated for the 'Hall of Fame' award.
Scholar of the Year - Bevan Corbett
Northampton's Bevan (Fuddy) Corbett received the 'Scholar of the of the Year' award adding to his achievement earlier this year when he was named Durack Institute's Aboriginal Student of the Year for 2010.
Bevan successfully completed both Certificate I in Industrial Skills and Certificate I in Engineering in 2010.
Youth of the Year - Stacey Bonney
Nursing student, Stacey Bonney took out the 'Youth of the Year' award.
Stacey has just completed her Diploma of Enrolled Nursing and has been granted a internship at Royal Perth Hospital.
