Durack’s Managing Director, Bert Beevers said that some of the region’s largest employers like the Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance use the Expo as a key part of their workforce development and recruitment strategy.
“With the region expecting a skills shortage of about 13,000 workers in the next five years, the Expo provides a much needed vehicle for Mid West employers to promote their career opportunities and the pathways to achieve them - particularly in skills shortage areas,” said Mr Beevers.
Visitors can access the full spectrum of career information from potential employers, job service providers and local education and training provider’s including Geraldton Universities Centre and Durack Institute of Technology.
“The aim is to promote career and training options available in this region so that our community’s brightest and best students will stay and help build a vibrant Mid West,” said Mr Beevers.
Geraldton Iron Ore Alliance CEO Rob Jefferies said that the Alliance is delighted to once again be the Principal Sponsor for the event.
“The Expo is an important regional event enabling those looking at training or for careers in the region to connect a huge array of regional employers; it is free of cost for both attendees and local employers; and while it is very important to our emerging iron ore industry, it is open to all of our regional industries," said Mr Jefferies.
