Eleven scholarships for full-time training across a range of industry areas are on offer at Durack in 2011.
Sponsored by local industry and community partners, the scholarships valued at $500 each help recipients meet the cost of their course fees, course materials or accommodation on campus at Pepperell Village.
Mr Bert Beevers, Managing Director of Durack Institute of Technology said the benefits to the students were two-fold.
“Our students can benefit both financially and by forming relationships, in many cases with potential future employers, by completing their qualifications locally. And through the support and involvement of local organisations the community also benefits by helping to ensure skilled workers train and remain in our region,” said Mr Beevers.
Now in its third year, the scholarship program has assisted over 20 students to date, including Amanda Melling who went on to work for her scholarship sponsor, GHD after completing her course in environmental science (management). Other recipients have used their training as a pathway to tertiary studies.
All full-time students enrolling in the related courses (who meet the entry requirements) are eligible to apply. People from regional and remote parts of the Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne regions are encouraged to apply.
Applications for the scholarships open on 20 January 2011 and close on 25 February 2011. Application forms can be downloaded from the links below or collected on campus.
Scholarship winners will be announced in April.
