Durack Institute of Technology students are collaborating to develop a short film titled “It’s About Us”. The film project will provide an avenue for Midwest youth to express their thoughts and feelings about their current tastes, living arrangements, issues, influences, goals and self esteem.
Managing Director of Durack Institute of Technology, Mr Bert Beevers said, “This venture involves several student groups collaborating towards an outcome that is a new and innovative way to encourage youth in our region to express themselves, whilst at the same time assisting Durack students to meet their learning outcomes”.
Youth invited to participate will be aged between 13 -25 years and will encompass a broad range of cultures and demographics, ensuring inclusion of young people from all walks of life to capture a broad outlook on current youth views.
Participants will be mentored throughout the project by Durack Institute of Technology Diploma of Community Services students.
Youth taking part in the project will have the opportunity to showcase Midwest Youth positively and develop skills ranging from public speaking, interpersonal communication and networking.
The film is due for completion at the end of Semester Four and will be aired at a public screening and used for educational purposes in the future.
