Durack Institute of Technology was officially honored as Western Australia’s Large Training Provider of the Year at a gala dinner held at the Perth Exhibition & Convention Centre on Friday 27th August. Minister for Energy; Training, Hon Peter Collier MLC attended the event which is hosted annually by the Department of Training & Workforce Development.
The WA Training Awards recognise and reward outstanding achievements of apprentices, trainees and vocational students, and the contribution to training made by trainers, training organisations and employers. In their sixteenth year, the Awards continue to celebrate our training elite and open doors and create bright futures for the State's top achievers.
The Large Training Provider of the Year Award recognises outstanding achievements demonstrated by large registered training providers (1,500 plus students) in all aspects of the delivery of vocational education and training. As the winner, Durack Institute secured $8000 worth of advertising with the Sunday Times and will represent the State at the National Training Awards to be held in Sydney in November.
Managing Director, Bert Beevers, received the award on behalf of the Institute and is delighted with the official recognition. “This award is a testament to Durack’s 280 staff, and is a great achievement for a Regional training provider. Not only does the award say that we are the best in WA, but it should give us confidence in the fact that we are heading in the right directions and our strategies are effective. Our students and employers can gain confidence that their local training provider is providing the best training possible, and will continue to meet and exceed the highest of standards.”
Mr Beevers continued, “It also recognizes the strong partnerships Durack has with many employers, government agencies and communities”.
