Services for Students

Binding and Laminating

Wire and thermal binding are available. Laminating sizes available are A5, A4 and A3.

Computer Services

We have a dedicated computing centre called Cibatek.  Access our online resources and library catalogue via SuperSearch on these computers.

Inductions

At the start of each semester, Library staff in conjunction with Client Services staff conduct student inductions. You will be introduced to the support services available for students as well as an introduction to Library services.  Your lecturer will book your class induction.

Information Services

If you need help finding any information please ask Library staff. You can also email us.

Interlibrary Loans

If an item is not held in our library, you may request an interlibrary loan from another WA TAFE library.  Requests must be course related. Ask Library staff for a form.

Photocopying and Printing

Multi-function devices allowing you to print, copy or scan (b/w and colour) are located in the Library and Cibatek Centre. Photocopying requires the use of your student card. A4 and A3 sizes are available. All copying and printing is subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act.

Referencing

APA style is the preferred format for referencing. Guides are available for loan from the Library.  An on-line guide is also available. Your lecturer may arrange for an information session to be conducted by the Learning Resources Coordinator. You may also seek assistance from Library staff.

Reciprocal Borrowing

College students are entitled to borrow items from other WA TAFE libraries. We also have agreements with most WA University libraries allowing you to borrow from them.  You must present a current student card at these libraries.  The conditions of use vary so please check with us if you are thinking of using these libraries.

Student ID Cards

Students studying at the Geraldton or BCMI campuses will be issued with their card at the end of their student induction. Students at campuses other than Geraldton or the BCMI can collect their cards from Reception. The cost of these is usually included with your enrolment fees. Your student card is a multi-purpose card and is used for the following services

  • ID
  • library
  • photocopying and printing at our Geraldton Campuses
  • after hours access to the Cibatek Centre if studying at our Geraldton campuses
